Where Van Beekum stood
The story started in 2012 with nothing more than a contact page and a plan. The first webshop went live in 2013, built on Shoptrader and filled with the first orders packed by hand. After 10,000 orders the team moved to Lightspeed Commerce in 2018 and kept professionalising. In 2023 Syncer added a new theme with a lot of custom work and several apps, and on that shop the business grew past 500,000 orders. That growth was exactly the reason the platform had to change.
- 01Thirteen years of product, customer and order history that had to stay intact
- 02A shop that had already outgrown two platforms and was heading for the next ceiling
- 03Years of custom work and apps that needed a home in the new setup
- 04A brand people search for by name, so visibility could not be put at risk
How the move ran
Discovery, data migration, storebuild, and a growth track that starts at go live.
Discovery
Full scan of the Lightspeed store: data volume, field mapping, the custom work from 2023, the apps in use and every edge case worth naming before anyone touched the shop.
Data migration
More than 500,000 orders, the customer base and the complete spice catalog mapped into the Shopify model and the official Shopify taxonomy. Custom fields became metafields, product options became variants, categories became collections.
Storebuild
A faster, more personal store built on Shopify: the Van Beekum brand front and centre, the catalog easy to search, and the technical base ready for AI and further automation.
Syncer Proof, six months
From go live onwards the historical Lightspeed data and the new Shopify data are compared side by side. Every month the team sees what moved, what needs attention and which improvement is worth doing next.
Products used
Data Transformation
Thirteen years of legacy data turned into a clean Shopify model: custom fields to metafields, options to variants, categories to collections, customer data and order history intact for service and returns.
Storebuild
The new Shopify store built around the brand: faster, more personal and prepared for the automation and AI work the team wants to do next.
Syncer Proof®
A six month growth track after go live. Historical and new data compared month by month, turned into a growth plan with Syncer doing the work.
