Burned Sports is a leading Dutch online store for sports nutrition, supplements and sports accessories. Migrating to Shopify was particularly challenging due to subscription products and an active loyalty programme — not a single customer or subscriber could be lost.

About Burned Sports

Burned Sports has a broad customer base of active athletes who regularly order supplements, protein shakes and sports nutrition. A significant share of revenue comes via subscriptions (monthly product delivery). On top of that, Burned Sports runs an extensive loyalty programme where customers earn points for discounts and exclusive products.

The challenge

  • Subscription products — hundreds of active subscriptions had to transfer without interruption; subscribers should notice nothing about the migration
  • Recharge migration — existing subscription data lived in Recharge (on the previous platform); transferring to Recharge on Shopify required a specialised approach
  • Loyalty programme — all earned points and tier statuses had to be transferred to LoyaltyLion on Shopify
  • Large product catalogue — hundreds of supplements and nutrition products with extensive nutritional information

Our approach

  • Recharge migration — we worked closely with the Recharge team to transfer every active subscription correctly to Recharge on Shopify. Subscribers experienced no interruption in their deliveries.
  • LoyaltyLion setup — all loyalty data (point balances, tier statuses, transaction history) was moved to LoyaltyLion on Shopify. Customers could log in straight after go-live and see their points.
  • Nutritional values as metafields — detailed nutritional data (proteins, carbs, fats, vitamins) was set up as structured metafields
  • LiveSync® — continuous sync ensured an up-to-date Shopify store on go-live day
  • SEO Guard™ — all product and category pages received correct 301 redirects

The result

  • 0 subscribers lost — every active subscription transferred without interruption
  • Loyalty programme fully preserved — every point and status correctly transferred
  • Better product pages — richer information about nutrition and usage
  • Better conversion — the new Shopify checkout converts better than the previous solution
