Why migrating from Lightspeed to Shopify with Syncer® is a smart choice in 2025

More than 10 years ago we ventured into our first migration to Shopify. Way too early… but even back then there were already enthusiastic internet entrepreneurs who sensed Shopify was the place to be. Or at least was going to be.

It was 2015, and we were already well on our way to becoming experts in Lightspeed. But Shopify — that's where you really wanted to build a store. With a still very minimal Shopify Theme Store at the time, theme Ella via Envato was soon a good choice. Especially for a European store, the North-America-focused themes from the official Shopify Theme Store were too minimal.

Now, 10 years later, we've turned our knowledge and experience of recent years not just into five successful Lightspeed themes, but we've also claimed our share in the Shopify Theme Store. With three extensive, European-oriented themes, we serve users from Europe and the rest of the world.

The Shopify craze has spread, and by now the hard work has paid off. For two years now they've been increasingly conquering the Dutch market too. Store owners on other platforms are getting more and more cramped. Not just because of the rise of tech giants and large stores, but also because of feeling 'stuck' in their current platform.

Yet a nasty feeling still clings to store migrations. Everyone knows an entrepreneur who lost their entire ranking after migrating, or experienced a complete drop after their design was overhauled. The hellish time between go-live and the rushed transfer of the last orders, customers and stock… Maintaining two stores at the same time because returns have to be processed in the old store while not coming in to the new one. And then onboarding staff, which is impossible because working in the new system can only happen once the store is live.

We've experienced all that hassle ourselves multiple times, so it was time to come up with something. How can we ensure a worry-free transition so store owners don't unnecessarily linger in the system they've actually outgrown? Or so they don't end up with a partner who overlooks certain things, even if just because the customer unintentionally kept things quiet.

Enough doom scenarios — time for action!

With Syncer® all the risks of that 'scary' data migration disappear. Both stores run synchronously, and only when you and your whole team are completely ready do you have to 'go live'.

Not only does this do the customer a huge favour with this power tool, it also takes a lot of stress off us as a migration partner.

The power of real-time synchronisation

What makes Syncer® truly unique is our advanced synchronisation technology. Imagine: while your current store keeps running, in just a few days we set up your new Shopify environment in parallel. Every order, every stock change, every customer registration — everything is synchronised in real time. That means your team can quietly get used to the new system while daily operations don't stop for a moment.
