Two important e-commerce events are coming up in the next few weeks: tomorrow Emerce EDAY takes place in Amsterdam, and next week the industry comes together again at Shopping Today, where the Twinkle100 is also traditionally presented.

For us at Syncer these are moments where we don't just gather inspiration, but above all reflect on what all these new insights mean for the future of our field: digital commerce, scalable technology and migration strategies.

Emerce EDAY: ideas that broaden your view

EDAY is known as the place where new perspectives collide and where technology, creativity and strategy come together. This year the focus is heavily on AI beyond the hype, composable commerce and the question of how organisations can stay agile in a fast-changing digital world.

Those are exactly the themes we work on every day: how do you make sure your e-commerce environment stays flexible enough to react to the next trend or technology, without locking yourself into a single vendor or platform?

Shopping Today & the Twinkle100: a benchmark for the market

A week later, Shopping Today brings the Dutch e-commerce community together. Alongside dozens of knowledge sessions, the new Twinkle100 is presented. This ranking shows not only who the biggest players are, but also who is leading on innovation and sustainability.

For us it's interesting to see what choices those companies make in their digital infrastructure. Because behind growth and scalability often sit strategic decisions on migrations, data ownership and tech-stack independence. Curious which recently migrated stores have made the cut? Stay tuned!

Questions you can ask yourself

Whether you're in Amsterdam tomorrow or in Utrecht next week, these are questions that help translate the insights you've gained into your own organisation:

  • Competition & benchmark
Am I in the Twinkle100 or competing with it indirectly? And what can I learn from the choices market leaders make on tech and scalability?

  • Technology & independence
Can I migrate to a different platform or system today without insurmountable barriers? Or have I unwittingly become dependent on a single vendor?

  • Composable & modularity
Which parts of my current stack are truly modular? And where am I still running risks of vendor lock-in?

  • AI & automation
Am I using AI in a way that adds real business value, or am I mostly just riding the hype?

  • Sustainability & strategy
How does my digital infrastructure compare to the sustainability expectations that play an ever-bigger role in the Twinkle100?

Why this matters to us

We'll be at both events, not to put up the biggest stand or shout the loudest message, but to have conversations. We're curious about:

  • Which role AI and automation will play in the day-to-day reality of stores?

  • How does the trend towards composable, modular building translate into concrete migration questions?

  • And what can we learn from the companies in the Twinkle100 about scalability, sustainability and strategic independence?

Emerce EDAY and Shopping Today are nice waypoints in the year. They show where the market stands now and where we're heading. We're looking forward to gathering inspiration there, sharing knowledge and thinking together with others about what this means for the future of e-commerce — and for the way businesses can preserve their digital freedom.
