Nick, our support hero at Syncer® (and DMWS and Plus+ ;), isn't sitting down with new faces this time. On the contrary: he's talking with two customers he has known for years. First through DMWS with a Lightspeed shop. Then they used the Plus+ dashboard, which gave them access to handy apps and add-ons to get the most out of Lightspeed — and now they're back, this time via a detour.
Where it all started
Nick:
"It almost feels like we're back to square one, but in a new phase. You've been customers for years. How do you look back on the early days with Lightspeed?"
Tim:
"For me that was a great time. Through the Plus+ dashboard we could expand our store with apps and add-ons that made Lightspeed smarter. With that we really got the most out of it. It gave us grip and overview."
Sanne:
"Yes, recognisable. Lightspeed was a logical choice back then: Dutch, familiar, and through Plus+ we could easily add functionality. But to be honest, after a few years it started to pinch. I ran into limits I couldn't solve even with Plus+."
The feeling that you've 'outgrown' it
Nick:
"When did you notice Lightspeed no longer fit?"
Customer 1:
"At a certain point you notice that ambitions become bigger than the platform. New integrations, scalability, custom work — it kept getting harder. I felt like we'd outgrown the system."
Customer 2:
"For me it was more about flexibility. You want to keep developing your store and differentiate, but you run into walls. We held on for a long time thanks to Plus+, even had the design updated once, but in the end the limitations weighed more than the benefits."
Running into Nick again, but now at Syncer®
Nick (smiles):
"And then you ended up at Shopify. Coincidentally with me again, via Syncer®. How did that feel?"
Tim:
"Honestly? Sceptical at first. Especially when we got both Roy and Roel on the line — huh, aren't they also from DMWS? On top of that Shopify isn't a Dutch party, and I wondered whether things would feel distant. But because you were involved, it felt familiar. The idea that Syncer® would guide the move gave certainty."
Sanne:
"Exactly. The migration went without a hitch. And funny enough, during the Lightspeed period we'd never literally talked about a switch, but it felt right that we ended up with you and Syncer® again."
The maze of external parties and AI
Nick:
"I often hear that entrepreneurs get lost in advice. How was that for you?"
Sanne:
"That was a real challenge. We worked with several external parties, and everyone had a different opinion. One party advised this, the other that. Sometimes advice was simply contradictory. That brought a lot of frustration."
Tim:
"On top of that came the storm of AI this year. Everywhere tools were being pushed: try this, use that, let AI shape your strategy. Before I knew it, I was lost in a maze of dashboards and was busy less and less with the core: running the store. AI felt more like noise than help."
Nick:
"That's something I hear more often: AI can be fantastic, but without direction you actually drift further from your goal."

Being heard and supported
Tim:
"The difference Syncer® makes is that I feel heard. You really listen to the situation and build a fitting model around it. I can now use a subscription that includes service, support, small custom work and maintenance. No loose hours or quotes every time, just clarity."
Sanne:
"For me that brings peace. Small adjustments, questions or maintenance no longer have to wait or be invoiced separately. It feels like there's always someone next to us looking on."
A community of partners
Nick:
"And how do you experience working with our network of partners?"
Sanne:
"That's perhaps the biggest win. In the past I'd get conflicting advice from different parties. Now I notice you work with partners on the same page. Whether it's marketing, payments, integrations or store software — it feels like a coordinated whole."
Tim:
"Yes, that makes a huge difference. My previous marketing partner had never worked with Shopify, for example. Then you get advice that simply doesn't fit. Now I notice all the links connect better. It feels more like a community that strengthens each other, instead of separate islands."
From uncertainty to confidence
Nick:
"Looking back, how does it feel now compared to a year ago?"
Tim:
"Much calmer. Where I was first afraid of making the wrong choices, I now know there's a safety net. I have room again to think about my customers instead of about technical hassle."
Sanne:
"For me it feels like I've gained more grip. Not just thanks to Shopify itself, but precisely because of how you're involved and bring in the right partners. It feels like working together instead of struggling."
Lessons for other entrepreneurs
-
Use platforms as long as they fit. Lightspeed combined with Plus+ delivered value for years, but growth sometimes calls for a switch. If you don't have permanent developers or a suitable party to maintain your WooCommerce or Magento store, consider a SaaS platform.
-
Find partners who listen. Not just technical expertise, but also involvement and continuity make the difference.
-
Don't get lost in AI hype. Tools are handy, but without direction you lose sight of the core.
-
Choose predictability. A subscription that includes service, support and maintenance brings peace of mind.
-
Build a community of specialists. Partners aligned with each other deliver much more value than separate parties with conflicting advice.
Switching from one platform to another is exciting for many entrepreneurs. It demands choices, raises uncertainty, and there are always opinions from outside. But with an involved party like Syncer® and a network of aligned partners, that journey feels less like a leap into the unknown — and more like a logical next step.
Or, as one of the customers put it:
"First we got tangled up in a maze of advice and AI tools. Now it feels like everything fits again."
